We are facing one of the most admired buildings all road of Madrid, whose facade has presented the greatest artists of our country, reaching all genres.
From 2002 Wonderland Entertainment S.L., manages the space. And it was here in this room, with which Wonderland became the first company to introduce in Spain “Naming Right“.
The result of a first agreement, in 2007, the theater was renamed Teatro Häagen-Dazs Calderón. From 2012, continuing the search for private support for the show to continue, rename again, to be renamed Teatro Caser Calderón.
Caser Calderon Theater History
The 18 June 1917 opened on Odeon Theatre, today known as Caser Calderón Theatre. This is, surely, one of the most beautiful buildings in the center of Madrid, architecture both exterior and interior decoration by. It was designed by architect Eduardo Sanchez Eznarriaga. The windows of the hall are Maumejean and the paintings of the room Demetrio Monteserín. Occupies part of the site of the old Convent of the Trinitarians.
A year after its inauguration passed to the Children Center of Madrid, and became known as Center Theatre. Again changed ownership and name in 1927. Being owned Duke of the Infantry came to be called Teatro Calderón.
With its high capacity, rather than the technical conditions of the stage, has been for most of its history on lyrical theater. During the Second Republic was theater of opera and after the Civil War was the favorite stage performers and Andalusian couplet Magazine.
Zarzuela has also been a constant of their programming. It also hosted the Madrid Symphony Orchestra.
In recent years there have been large regularly scheduled musical national and international. Among many other shows, at the Teatro Calderón Caser productions have been released: Mata-Hari (1983), Mom, I want to be an artist (1986), Carmen, Carmen (1988), Hello Dolly (2001), We Will Rock You (Queen) (2003), A, Music Nacho Cano (2009), The Hole (2011-2012), Soap – The Show (2012)…
Nowadays, with the new configuration stalls (replaced by tables and chairs), Caser Teatro Calderon has become a club where you can have a drink or dinner while enjoying the show, in a modern and different in the center of Madrid.
There is also an ice cream parlor in the hall, unique in the world, that turns the theater into a space open all day.
